ABOUT DR. SIMONE A. F. GAUSE
I am a higher education scholar committed to restorative justice, equitable leadership, and praxis. I am an Assistant Professor in the Education Sciences & Organizations department at Coastal Carolina University.
I am a qualitative/mixed methods researcher who primarily focuses on privilege and power issues and how they impact gender equity, racial equity, and access to higher education. Using historical and contemporary contexts, I operationalize my research through two interrelated foci: student and faculty diversity and organizational change/behavior.
In addition to managing my research projects, my administrative work over the past several years has focused on building out a structured, interdisciplinary research center to serve as a collaborative hub of transformative ideas, research, and services that reshape higher education by challenging systematic norms to achieve equity, cultural relevancy, and restorative justice. I have over 15 years of professional experience in student affairs and other administrative roles covering various functional areas, including admissions and enrollment management, student life, athletics, and academic support.
My educational background includes two Bachelor of Science degrees (Business Administration and Recreation, Parks, Tourism) from the University of Florida. I also received my Master of Science in Sport Management. I completed my Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration – Higher Education at the University of South Carolina.
